Custom PET and PEOPLE Portraits
So you have someone you'd like me to draw? I'd LOVE that!
On occasion I open up this opportunity - just recently releasing a book of over 500 portraits I've done over the last 3 years. 'Pets and Their People' -a book brimming with humor and heart felt quotes and musings.
I'm now at it again! Have a pet or loved one -or a group of them dear to your heart? and you want a portrait of them by me? Well - grab a spot today! It can be just one in the portrait or up to 5. Your choice!
This round I have only two options - a 11x14" Print Portrait -OR- a very special offering of a Walnut Framed Canvas Portrait for only $50 more. (this framed canvas offering and discount wouldn't be possible but for my friends extending this to me and ultimately on to you! This will be a treasure and keep sake - and you'll have no need to matte and frame it!! It'll be hang-ready when it arrives.)
Below you'll have the opportunity to tell me about who it is I'm attempting to draw and you'll be able upload reference photos. PLEASE select carefully the best references for me of their faces with good lighting so I can really see their coloring and personality or eyes. (You'll upload the photos below) And do let me know about them - and what makes them so unique. I will give it my best with what you provide.
What You’ll Get:
✔️ A custom, hand-drawn portrait of your pet or person
✔️ Options for Print or Framed Canvas (pick the framed canvas!!)
✔️ The option to add extra pets or persons to your portrait
How It Works:
1️⃣ Choose Your Style – Print or Framed Canvas?
2️⃣ Add Extra Pets (If You Want!) – Just have me draw the one or select up to 4 additional pets or people into the portrait.
3️⃣ Provide Photos & Notes – Upload quality reference photos for me to use and share what you can to give me an idea of who it is I'm drawing - their personality, what they like and why you love them.
4️⃣ Receive Your Unique Portrait – In the order I get the commissions I will work on them - when complete I'll send out your artwork on print or on the framed canvas.
Help Me See Them
What you share matters.
The photos you send—and the words you include—help me understand who I’m drawing. Not just what they look like, but who they are.
Please choose clear, expressive photos. If you send more than one, make sure they feel like the same pet or person—it’s amazing how much lighting or angle can shift their look.
Tell me what makes them special. A personality quirk. A role they played in your life. Something you hope I notice.
You don’t need to overexplain—I don’t follow strict instructions well—but a little insight goes a long way.
"What you share helps me draw not just what they look like—but who they are."
What to Expect
Each portrait is drawn one at a time, with care and focus. I usually work through orders in the order they come in, with some taking considerably longer than others. I also mix into my days other illustration and work projects - but these portraits will be attended to as I plod along.
There’s no guaranteed turnaround time. I’ll reach out if I need clarification or run into questions—otherwise, just know I’m working through them thoughtfully, one by one. So if you have a date in mind, a birthday or you want it by Christmas understand that I cannot promise a turn-around time.
Every portrait is interpreted with artistic discretion.
I do my absolute best to capture the essence of your pet or person—but these are hand-drawn illustrations, not photo replicas. What you get will reflect my style, my eye, and the sense I get from what you’ve shared.
If you’re looking for something highly specific or exact, this may not be the right fit—and that’s okay.
That said, if something comes through in the artwork that feels off—especially if I’ve missed something clearly communicated—I’ll make it right.
This is a personal process, and I want you to feel cared for in it.
One more thing:
All artwork I create remains under my full copyright. That simply means I retain the rights to the image, including the ability to share the portrait on my website, on social media, in future books, or as part of marketing materials.
That said—this is your story too.
If I ever consider using your portrait beyond the original commission (for example, in a product line, fine art print, or licensing opportunity), I’ll reach out first. If you're open to it, we’ll explore next steps together. If not, I’ll fully respect that.
Your trust matters to me, and I want you to feel honored in the process.
YOU WANT MORE IN YOUR PORTRAIT?
Want a background, stuffed animal, unique and specific attire added or something 'odd' but very important to you? --I'd suggest you place your order and I'll be in contact when I get to your order to understand the scope and what you are asking or wanting. It very well will incur more in the cost and we can arrange that to be taken care of separately. Ultimately my aim is to create something very special for you.
Have questions? Feel free to reach out. I’d love to create something special for you.
