Peanut's Story

Peanut came into the shelter as an owner surrender due to a medical issue. It didn’t take long for the staff in Reno, NV to realize shelter life wasn’t working for him. They reached out and asked if Kristen would foster him—and, well, that didn’t last long. He officially became part of her family on December 29, 2019.

Since then, the #1 question asked is:
“What kind of dog is that?!”
That simple question sparked something big. They launched a “One Tough Mutt to Crack” fundraiser where people could guess Peanut’s breed (spoiler alert: no one got it right). From there, his journey took off.

Through his Instagram (@nutterbutterrescuepupper), Peanut’s been able to advocate for and fundraise on behalf of homeless dogs across the country—raising over $75,000 and counting.

And this little guy has done it all:
– Certified therapy dog visiting hospitals and schools
– Competed on a national dog show on ABC
– Named Mayor for a Day in Reno, NV
– Helped launch “Adoption Ale” (yes, a beer!)
– Even inspired a Brixilated Lego Project
